Oct. 13, 1917:

The Rest Of The World  On The Day Of "The Miracle of Fatima"

It was a Saturday morning. In Fatima, more than 100,000 people gathered in anticipation of the Miracle.

Throughout the rest of the world other events were taking place. Just a few weeks earlier American troops landed in France.

On October 13, a heavy downpour turned the battlefields of Europe into a sea of mud, so restricting that troops and equipment were unable to move, and the fighting stopped.

President Wilson labeled the First World War a "war to end all wars", but Our Lady of Fatima said: "There will be another, a more terrible war".

It was almost two weeks later, on October 26, that Lenin and Trotsky set up a new (Communist) government in the Czar's winter palace and took power in Russia. While thousands witnessed the miracle of Fatima, Communism was born in Russia.

An eyewitness in Fatima said "The sun began to move, and at a certain moment, appeared to be detached from the sky and about to hurdle upon us like a wheel of fire.I fell on my knees."

Soon the miracle was over. The clothing the people  wore was dry. Truly the events at Fatima convinced all who were there they had witnessed a miracle.
